Ski & Sail - Lyngen Alps

As soon as you step off the plane in Tromsø you immediately feel that there is something special about this place. You are met by remarkable scenery with snow covered peaks raising out of the ocean and everyone around you seems to be here for one thing, and one thing only… To explore the outdoors. The Norwegians simply call it “Friluftsliv” which literally translates to “free air life”. It is not always easy to explain, but according to the locals it is often used to describe a way of life where you explore and appreciate what nature has to offer.

This is luxury adventure at its finest - skiing and sailing deep Norwegian fjords and snow covered peaks from the luxury of a beautiful custom-built Oyster 885 sailing yacht.

S/Y Firebird

This custom-built Oyster 885 sailing yacht is a floating luxury chalet offering a spacious saloon with a 360°-panoramic view of the amazing Arctic scenery. The large cockpit can be fully enclosed and is heated during winter so you can enjoy the sailing with your morning coffee without even taking off your slippers.

There are 4 well-appointed guest cabins on-board, each with its own individually controlled heating and lightning systems, en-suite bathroom and entertainment system.

The sail locker has been fitted with boot heaters and a ski rack to ensure your boots are always warm, dry and ready to go in the morning.

The Lowdown

Summit to Sea

The Lyngen Alps in Norway offer some of the best wilderness ski-touring in the world. Heliskiing is not permitted in Norway so the only way of accessing the virgin snow is to strap skins to your skis and use a bit of muscle to get to the top. The rewards are beyond imagination - no sign of civilisation, untouched mountains plastered in powder snow and scenery that will blow you away as you descend from summit to shore.

Outstanding Terrain

The quality of snow and the variety of terrain in this region are truly awesome with endless opportunities for all abilities to explore anything from wide open spacious bowls to steep couloirs and Alaskan-looking spines.

Floating Luxury

Firebird is a luxury sailing yacht with immaculate attention to detail throughout. It is complimented by genuine 5-star service delivered seamlessly and unobtrusively by a professional crew. Created by chef Mel, a full breakfast, lunch packs, après ski snacks and a 3-course dinner using local specialties coupled with carefully matched wines are all included.

Magnificent Scenery

This part of the world is truly a photographer’s dream and if you embark on your adventure early enough in the season it is very likely that you will experience the Northern Lights.
