Niehku Mountain Villa

Niehku is the Northern Sami word for “dream” – the perfect description for this stunning new heliski lodge in Sweden’s arctic. Situated at an elevation of 500 metres in the high-alpine area of Sweden's north, close to the border with Norway and almost 400 km above the Arctic Circle, Niehku is one of the most northerly heliski lodges in the world.

Despite being relatively low in terms of elevation, the mountains in Arctic Sweden maintain reliable snow and cold temperatures right through until May. If you are based in Europe and want to heli-ski without travelling half way around the world, Niehku is both convenient and practical for either a week-long trip or an extended weekend.

Unlike the heavily regulated Alps, where heliskiing is limited to a few runs from designated landing spots, here it’s a relative free-for-all, and I ride almost as much powder in a few days as I have in the rest of my life.
