The Heliskiing

With warm, moist air flowing off the Pacific and mixing with the cooler arctic air of the Alaskan interior the resulting snow conditions of the Chugach Mountains are truly pornographic. Nearly sixteen metres (50 feet) fall here every winter forming a stable, maritime snowpack and allowing steeper lines to be skied which other heliski operations in the interior of North America can only dream of.

Although famous for the big, steep lines in the movies, there is plenty of terrain to keep the less vertically inclined happy. However, conditions permitting, if you come with a strong group and do want to push the limits, this is the place to come.

If you have a limited amount of time and what to get the best of Alaska regardless of the weather, this is THE place to come. With an excellent ski resort on your door step, a snowcat AND a helicopter, you will be up shredding the powder regardless of what mother nature throws in your direction.

Typical runs are between 900 and 1,100 metres in big alpine terrain with truly mind-blowing backdrops.

Lodging

The Hotel Alyeska is located right next to the ski slopes and has all the amenities of a good hotel - room service, state-of-the-art fitness center, indoor salt-water pool, sauna and whirlpool. The rooms have stunning views of the Chugach Mountains and the four on-site restaurants serve good local Alaskan produce including, King crab, salmon and halibut.

Helicopters & Safety

The modern A-Star B3 helicopter is the main machine used in Girdwood. They are chartered from a reputable local company and all pilots have extensive mountain flying and heli skiing experience.

All guides have a great deal of Alaskan heli skiing experience and are continually balancing safety with exciting skiing.

Alaska Heliski Combo

Your week starts with some gentle foreplay at the resort before working your way up to two days heliskiing with the ultimate sex-toy - an A-Star B3 helicopter. This is an excellent introduction to heli skiing in Alaska and with a very attractive price tag.
