The Pantheon Range British Columbia

The Pantheon helski ski area is located 200 kilometres north of Vancouver, British Columbia on the edge of the Chilcotin Plateau. The nearest 'town' is Tatla Lake, a three hour drive west of Williams Lake or one hour east of Anahim Lake.

These are BC's biggest mountains with huge vertical relief and some of the longest heliski runs in Canada. Home to British Columbia's highest peak, Mt. Waddington (4,019 m), the region is humbling on a scale difficult to imagine.

The area is visually stunning, and has been used as a backdrop by a number of high profile Hollywood films, including Franc Roddams' 'K2', Martin Scorsese's 'Kundun' and Jean Jacques Annaud's 'Seven Years in Tibet'.

Why Heli Ski Here?

  • The biggest, most spectacular mountains in British Columbia.
  • Excellent for expert skiers / snowboarders.
  • Long Runs.
  • Unexplored terrain and first descents.
  • Exclusive and intimate feel (only eight skiers / riders per week).

The Heliskiing

With an area that dwarfs any European resort into insignificance and reserved for just eight skiers or riders a week, this is one of Canada's most personal and adventurous heli ski operations. You will experience unparalleled adventure and a pioneering feel unheard of at more commercial heli ski operations.

All who come here are blown away by the scale and scope of this impressive heliski zone. It is not just their size and potential for heli skiing and snowboarding that amaze but also the unspoiled purity. There are no clear-cuts, wildlife is abundant and there is almost no trace of human existence.

The 5,000 sq km of terrain is primarily alpine with huge, long glacial descents and bowl after bowl of endless powder...The climate is drier and cooler than the coast which makes for an abundance of cold, smoky powder snow.

Lodging

White Saddle Ranch is a warm and traditional hand hewn log structure and a working guest and cattle ranch not a fancy heliski lodge. The rooms are simple, comfortable and clean with fantastic views of teh surrounding mountains. Bathrooms are shared.

For communication, the ranch has regular landline telephones and satellite internet.

Food is very fresh, with much of it coming right from the ranch. All the bread and pastries are baked fresh each day and lunches are packed to order in the morning and eaten in the field.

Helicopters & Safety

Bell 212 helicopters are supplied by Skyline Helicopters with a Bell 206 on standby from Whitesaddle Air. The pilots are highly capable, experienced, and specially trained in mountain flying. All helicopters are equipped with modified skid gear to land on snow, a side basket with lid to carry skis, and radios to ensure continuous communication between pilots, guides, the base and outside resources.

The Pantheon Heli ski operation is owned and operated by its coastal neighbor, Bella Coola Heli Sports and is a member of the British Columbia Helicopter and Snowcat Skiing Operators Association Helicat Canada. The association sets strict safety standards and operating procedures for heli ski and snowcat operations in Canada. Only by skiing with a member of Helicat Canada can you be assured of skiing with certified heli ski guides who follow a strict set of operating procedures.

All guides are dedicated professionals and certified members of the internationally recognized guides' associations.

All absolutely fantastic! Great snow and an interesting area to ski with varied conditions in regards to both terrain and snow. Had some of my best runs of my life there.
