Why Heli Ski Here?
- Quick, easy access from Europe.
- Get up close and personal with some of the most famous, awe-inspiring peaks in the Alps.
- Big, long runs of between 1,700 and 2,000 vertical metres are the norm.
- Visit charming alpine villages full of history and mountain culture.
The Heliskiing
Heli skiing in Switzerland, and in Europe in general, is not like heli skiing in the vast wilderness areas like British Columbia and Alaska. With only a limited number of designated landings and pickups, your choice of run is dictated more by where you are allowed to land than it is by where the best snow conditions are.
That said, the Swiss Alps can offer some of the most spectacular, long descents imaginable and its rich mountain culture, charming traditional villages and delicious food and wine are all part of the experience.
With huge runs averaging close to 2,000 vertical metres, there are few other heliski locations that can compare on this front.
Lodging
Guests stay in a wide range of hotels in Verbier, Arolla, Zermatt and Chamonix. Depending on the location, an upgrade to a four or five star hotel is usually possible for an additional charge.
Helicopters & Safety
Different helicopters are used depending on the exact location but the usual machines are the A-Star B3 and B2 which transport groups of four or five heli skiers plus guide. They are chartered from the most reputable helicopter companies in the Swiss Alps including Air Zermatt and without exception, they are flown by highly qualified and experienced mountain pilots.
All heliski guides are dedicated professionals who have passed a series of comprehensive exams to qualify them as members of the U.I.A.G.M. (The International Association of Mountain Guides).
