Turkey

As of winter 2019, Turkey is firmly back on the heliski map. Measuring 100 km in length by 35 km width, the Kaçkar range is situated in the north east of Turkey, on the Black Sea and is ideally suited for heli-skiing. During the winter months moist air from the Black Sea combines with cold mountain air to create optimal powder skiing conditions between mid-January and mid-March.

At just under 4,000 metres Kaçkar Dagi is the highest peak in the Kaçkar Mountains

Travel to the region from Europe is generally simple and quick with major airlines flying regularly to the Turkish capital Istanbul. From there, an internal flight brings you to Trabzon and it is a further two hours by road to the heli ski base in Ayder.
