Pantheon Helisports is located one hour by air north of Vancouver, British Columbia on the edge of the Chilcotin Plateau. The nearest town is Tatla Lake which is three hours west of Williams Lake by car or one hour east of Anahim Lake.
The area is visually stunning, and has been used as a backdrop by a number of high profile Hollywood films, including Franc Roddams' K2, Martin Scorsese's Kundun and Jean Jacques Annaud's Seven Years in Tibet.
Why Heli ski Here?
- The biggest, most spectacular mountains in British Columbia
- Excellent for expert skiers / snowboarders
- Long Runs
- Unexplored terrain and first descents
- Exclusive and intimate feel (only eight skiers / riders per week).
The Heli skiing and Heli boarding
With only two groups of four skiers / riders per week this is one of the most intimate and flexible heli ski programs in Canada. The mountains in the region are impressive to say the least and all who come here are blown away by their scale and scope. It is not just their size and potential for skiing and snowboarding that amaze but also their unspoiled purity. There are no clear-cuts, wildlife is abundant and there is almost no trace of human existence.
The 695 sq mile (1,800 sq km) heli ski tenure is located at the confluence of three mountain ranges well known to climbers and professional skiers: the Waddington, Niut and Pantheon Ranges. The Pantheons have some of the highest peaks and longest runs in all of British Columbia and because of their location on the east side of the Coast Range they receive less snow (and better weather) than the coast but it is usually lighter and drier.
Accommodation & Facilities
White Saddle Ranch is a warm and traditional hand hewn log structure and a working guest and cattle ranch. The rooms are quite basic but they are clean and comfortable and each has a bathroom and fantastic views of the surrounding mountains.
For communication, the ranch has regular landline telephones and satellite internet.
Food is very fresh, with much of it coming right from the ranch. All the bread and pastries are baked fresh each day and lunches are packed to order in the morning and eaten in the field.
Helicopters & Safety
Bell 205 helicopters are supplied by Blackcomb Helicopters and Whitesaddle Air. The pilots are highly capable, experienced, and specially trained in mountain flying. All helicopters are equipped with modified skid gear to land on snow, a side basket with lid to carry skis, and radios to ensure continuous communication between pilots, guides, the base lodge, other heliski areas, and outside resources.
Pantheon Helisports is a member of the British Columbia Helicopter and Snowcat Skiing Operators Association. This Association sets strict safety standards for operating a Helicopter and/or Snowcat skiing area. Only by skiing with a member of the B.C. Helicopter and Snowcat Skiing Operators Association can you be assured of skiing with certified heli ski guides who follow a strict set of operating procedures.
All guides are dedicated professionals and certified members of internationally recognized guides' associations. Each guide brings extensive qualifications and experience to the team. All guides attend annual training sessions with the foremost experts in the field, who enjoy the opportunity to exchange ideas with leading practitioners.
