Location
The base for TLH Heliskiing is Tyax Mountain Lake Resort, on the shores of beautiful Tyaughton Lake, approximately 125 miles (200 km) north of Vancouver, British Columbia. Transfers to Tyax Mountain Lake Resort are provided by courtesy bus from Vancouver or Whistler resort. Helicopter transfers from Vancouver or Whistler can be arranged on request.
The Heli skiing / Heli boarding
Consistently reliable weather and snow conditions, open bowls, glaciers that stretch forever and some excellent tree runs make for a heli ski experience of the highest calibre. Like most operations in Canada, the average run length is approximately 700 - 800 vertical metres. But unlike most operations in Canada, TLH Heliskiing never heli ski with more than two groups per helicopter. What this means is less waiting around, more heli skiing and less people on the mountain.

Accommodation & Facilities
Tyax Mountain Lake Lodge is unquestionably one of the most beautiful heli skiing lodges in Canada. Its location on the shores of Tyaughton Lake with views of the surrounding peaks make for a warm, luxurious atmosphere in a truly wild location. Tucked away amongst towering trees, there are also a number of beautiful log chalets, reserved for those choosing the more exclusive private heli skiing packages. After a hard day's heli skiing you can relax around the massive stone fireplace, enjoy a drink at the bar, play pool and darts in the lounge or re-live your day of heli skiing on video while the chefs prepare your dinner buffet. On the other hand you might want to head straight for the trained hands of the resident masseuse, sit back in the sauna or simply relax in the outdoor Jacuzzi with a cold beer and views of the lake and mountains. There is also a games room with ping-pong; and a fitness gym with numerous exercise machines and weights. If conditions are unfavourable for heli skiing you can try snowmobiling, snow shoeing, ice fishing or simply enjoy a leisurely walk on one of the nearby trails. With its splendid wilderness location, western charm and numerous indoor and outdoor activities, TLH Heliskiing is also ideal for non-skiing guests accompanying heli skiers.
Helicopters & Safety
Guests use the 11 passenger, jet powered Bell 212 helicopter. This is the most commonly used heli skiing machine in Canada. For smaller, private heli ski groups, the A-Star 350 B2 and Bell 407 are used. The helicopters are immaculately maintained by a team of on-site mechanics; and are flown by pilots with many years of mountain flying and heli skiing experience.
The safety standards at TLH Heliskiing are second to none
and this is reflected in their immaculate safety record.
Without exception, guides are seasoned professionals who
have passed a series of comprehensives exams to qualify
them as members of the A.C.M.G and the U.I.A.G.M, the recognised
Canadian and International Mountain Guide Associations.
TLH Heliskiing is also a member of "HELICAT Canada", which sets strict
safety standards for operating a heli skiing area.
Guides continuously monitor the weather and snow stability
in an effort to minimize hazards.
