Lake Riza is located on the north east coast of the Black
Sea twelve minutes flying time from the first heli skiing
runs. This small state of 8600 km2, bordered to the North
by Russia and to the South by Georgia, is dominated by the
immense Caucasus range, which separates the Black
from the Caspian Seas reaching an altitude of 5672 m
at the top of Mt. Elbrus.
The Heli skiing and Heli boarding
The heli skiing and snowboarding terrain at your disposal is immense and totally exclusive to our operation. There are few places in the world where so many factors come together to make for such perfect skiing. The norm here is powder – deep powder. The terrain is exceptionally varied with steep couloirs, wide open bowls and forests of perfectly spaced silver birches. With small groups and small helicopters, never has the Caucasus been more accessible to heli skiing.
Accommodation and Facilities
The four star hotel is located on a beach on the shores of the Black Sea, approximately 45 km from the town of Sochi (Russia). The hotel is new and very comfortable, with 200 rooms, bar, heated interior swimming pool, sauna, Turkish baths and fitness room. Our guests dine at the hotel restaurant, which overlooks the surrounding mountains.
Helicopters and Safety
The extremely powerful, Russian built M18 MTV, twin turbine helicopters are used to transport heli skiers and heli boarders to the peaks surrounding Lake Riza. In our opinion they are not as good as the machines used in Krasnaya Poliana and we are currently working on getting better ones in place. Until we do you would be better to take our Krasnaya Poliana option.
A UlAGM European guide accompanies each group of 5 skiers or boarders and all guests are equipped with airbag, shovel, probe and avalanche transceiver. All of the guides have a great deal of heli skiing experience. They are equipped with radios, which are linked to other guides, the helicopter and the local rescue service which has a winch-equipped helicopter.
