Our main heliski base in Argentina is the small, purpose-built resort of Las Lenas. Situated at an altitude of 2,200 metres it is close to the city of Mendoza and around 1,200 from Buenos Aires.
Why Heli ski Here?
- Long alpine descents in the Andes
- Some good steep terrain
- Small groups of four skiers
- Heli skiing from July to September
- Remote, untouched terrain
The Heli skiing and Heli boarding
The minute you fly over the resort and catch a glimpse of the endless expanse of mountains, it becomes clear that you are in an area possessing truly limitless possibilities. And when it also dawns on you that there are only another three to seven people left with the tough task of exploring this heli ski Mecca, the excitement really kicks in. With valley after valley of perfect heliski terrain stretching as far as the eye can see, there are runs here to keep just about everybody happy. However, the area is particularly suited to more proficient and experienced skiers / riders and if it is tree skiing that you are after look elsewhere, as this is a land dominated by high alpine terrain. Typical runs average about 1,000 vertical metres.
Accommodation & Facilities
Guests stay in the self-awarded, 'five star' Hotel Piscis. It may be the best hotel in Las Lenas but it is not truly five star by any stretch of the imagination. That said, it is a good hotel with excellent facilities including a spa, indoor/outdoor pool, casino and gym. Each room has color TV, climate control, mini-bar, in-room phones, safe deposit box, daily cleaning, laundry service, 24 hour room service and full private bath.
Helicopters & Safety
A brand new A-Star B3 helicopter is flown by a French pilot who is one of the most experienced mountain aviation specialists in the country and it is maintained by a team of highly experienced on-site mechanics.
The programme is run by UIAGM certified mountain guide Hannes Webhofer who has over twenty seasons guiding experience in the heliski industry and maintains the highest levels of safety. All guests are given an ABS Airbag for added protection from avalanches.
