Heli-skiing in Argentina

Keen to develop some heli-skiing options in South America we first took our skis down to Argentina in August 2006. We visited Bariloche in Patagonia before driving even further South to the most southern parts of the Andes around Cholila and the Chilean border. These mountains are designed for heliskiing and if you want to heli-ski in South America, it's the place to be.

Picture this: Your legs are weary – in a satisfied kind of way - from the best day’s skiing of your life. Freshly massage and relaxed to the core you sip on a deep purply-red Malbec and gaze out across the magnificent snow covered Andes where you spot a distinctive peak in the distance. Hours earlier you stood on top looking down with excited anticipation at miles of untouched sparkling powder, knowing that yours would be the first tracks down it – ever.

The Lowdown

Luxury Lodge, Fine Food and Wine

We love great food, we love great wine and we love great skiing. In Patagonia is where they meet. The Carrileufu River Lodge is ideally situated in between the majestic Andes and the Patagonian Desert. Stunning local wines compliment exquisite local ingredients prepared by the private chef each evening. Don’t be surprised if you look forward to dinner as much as the next day’s skiing.

Be a Pioneer

There is something that bit extra special about skiing where no one has ever skied before. Looking back up at your turns and deciding what to name your run. It won’t stay that way forever but for now at least there are abundant opportunities to pioneer first descents and put your mark on the map of Argentinian skiing history.

Outstanding Terrain & Location

Having the lodge located in the heart of the heliskiing area gives you access to over 600,000 acres of ski terrain within a 30-mile flight radius. The mountains of the Cholila area are known to have the best snow in the entire region of Central Patagonia and and with a total area of 1,300,000 acres there is a huge variety in the terrain from large alpine bowls, endless glacier runs, steep descents and couloirs, to rolling powder fields and some of the finest tree skiing in South America.
