London morning, Heliski afternoon, Northern Lights night

Elemental Adventure •

In March next year, direct Easyjet flights will be operating between London Gatwick and Akureyri in Northern Iceland, creating a unique opportunity for anyone living in England to take a short break heli-skiing on Iceland's Troll Peninsula with the easiest journey imaginable. And for guests in Switzerland there is also a direct Akureyri flght from Zurich on Sundays.

Arriving at Klængshóll Lodge after a short road transfer from Akureyri, you will be lifting off and clicking into your skis before you know it. After skiing you can ski right back to the lodge where the hot tub will be steaming and your bag waiting in your cabin. March is a great time to see the Aurora Borealis so this could be the chance to tick two items off the bucket list in a weekend.

The Ski Experience

The Troll Peninsula offers spectacular skiing right from and to the lodge which is surrounded by mountains reaching over 1,500, and with dramatic descents down to the Arctic shoreline. Groups of just 4 skiers or snowboarders are accompanied by a guide with no more than 3 groups per helicopter. Private groups have a helicopter to themselves and can often maximise the ski time even further by skiing from and to the airport.

As well as the skiing, Iceland offers much more, from otherworldly landscapes to experiences such as whale watching and visits to hot springs - you can pack a lot into a short visit here.
